12 Ways to Stay Cool in Summer
There’s plenty of summertime left, but don’t let the heat keep you inside
It may be tempting to stay inside where there is air conditioning, but summer is a great time to be outdoors.
The heat can make you uncomfortable, and it can even kill you if you get too hot. Climate crisis or not, late July into August is the hottest time of the year, and maybe the most important time to be careful.
Last week I wrote about how to avoid a heatstroke while hiking in hot weather. You can see that article here.
With that in mind, I have compiled a list of hacks to help you beat the heat. Most of these relate to hiking, but they would apply the same way to any outdoor activity. An outdoor concert can affect you the same way hiking does on a hot day.
1 Use soda bottles. Water is the best thing you can drink when outside in the heat. Instead of spending a lot on water bottles, you can use soda bottles you have emptied. They work just as well, it’s a lot cheaper, and it's better for the environment.
