First Day on The Road

Across Oklahoma and into Texas

The first day on the road was uneventful, which is a good thing. My confidence level in the truck has improved a lot.

We went into Oklahoma through the countryside and caught Interstate 40 near the Texas line. Lots of red dirt and red rock hills. It's not pretty countryside so I was not tempted to stop and take pictures.

Some thunderstorms near us, and a rainbow

We are at a campground on Route 66 in the town of Shamrock, Texas. It looks like an interesting small town with some old buildings. We might check it out in the morning.

We are bad about getting distracted and stopping to see things that might be interesting. Have to remember where we are going is probably cooler than what we might see along the way.

We did not get started until after 10 a.m., which was a little later than we hoped. There was no reason. That’s just how we roll at times.

Checked out a Tex-Mex place, which is what Texas is famous for. Got a big burrito that had sausage, ham, beef, onion, jalapenos, and potatoes. Oh yea, special sauce and cheese too. I'll probably pay for this in more ways than one.
