Great article. I too like the freedom of having a place to publish my stuff. I seem to “need” to put my writing somewhere.
There's no telling what will happen, and the results can be surprising. Some of my really good stories are ignored, and some things I cranked out in 10 minutes that are not that good, have a lot of reads. I just try to make my $5 back.
Are you in any publications? You will get a lot more readers if you put your stories in pubs. Some are more accepting than others, but it's not too hard to get into some.
I have one and have never turned anyone down. The only catch is, you have to let your dog do the writing, or you can borrow a dog if you dont have one.
