I dont see anything wrong with there needing to be some evidence. Im all for believing and trying to help victims, but if they dont have any evidence or proof, the person should not be assumed guilty.
Smolette did damage trust.
If i were an activist trying to get people to believe victims, I would be all over this guy demanding he be punished as severely as possible. (he will likely get nothing more than probation, because its his first offense, )
Black leaders, and leaders of MeToo need to show they are not going to put up with false reports, and they need to show they are repulsed by false reports. I do not have much respect for black leaders who now want to protect him.
