I have a very similar journey. I was fortunate to have a pastor who encouraged investigation and freedom. He liked it when i didn't agree with him on a theological point.

You don't really have to wear a label I don't think. And there are different churches even within the same denomination. We all need to find our own faith and our own theology. I think a great weakness in the church is that it does not teach theology as well as it could. It does not teach people how to think and how to examine things. How many Christians could not explain their own view of the atonement, let alone the views of other churches?

The translation point is interesting. Words change meaning even in short periods of time. Think of the word gay and what it meant 50 years ago.
