I thought I was pretty clear that it does not say she was raped. To exegete that she was raped you have to read things into the text that are simply not there. There’s no indication of what her feelings were either way. I do take the bible seriously and have been studying for more than 50 years. I have a MA from a respected seminary.

I think there's enough in the story to say she was not raped.

If she were raped there would be no need to cover it up. David could have just denied it and thrown her under the bus. She didn't accuse him, she sent word to him — which to me means there was some sort of relationship. You dont just send messages to the king if you dont know the king. They got married soon after and she became the queen.

So I dont agree that a plain exegesis of the text shows there was rape.

but that says nothing about any rape of anyone else in any other time of history or the present day.
