My theory is that corporate greed has become the guiding and controlling force in our nation.

We have always had a combination of socialism and capitalism - and that is what has worked so well. Its just a question of how we balance it.

But consider.

Pensions are unheard of anymore

At one time a family could be supported on one factory job.

10 years since a minimum wage increase.

I once quit a job because I was insulted that I was offered only a 2 percent raise with an excellent performance review... now a one percent raise is considered good.

In college i supported myself with a minimum wage job .. could not be done now.

we have been fed the lie that what is good for business is good for us ... which is the republican mantra..

that is why we cant fix our social problems like homelessness, poverty and such - fixing those problems does not positively affect the profit margin of major corporations - so it wont happen.

the "woke" thing is partly an extreme reaction to that reality.
