Negativity and paranoia sells. The media drives it because it sells.
I wrote for newspapers for years. If I wrote a positive story about a member of city council, or anyone in govt, it was ignored, or I was accused of sucking up to someone. If i wrote a negative one, i was hated and loved by the appropriate side.
Same with Medium articles. My more negative ones have a lot more reads than my positive ones. We just love paranoia for some reason.
