Story Challenge Update: New Year’s Eve
A weekend and a holiday together do not make for good stats
I am getting a lot of writing done these days, but not necessarily on Medium. Here is my update.
These dark days between Christmas and New Year's Day have been interesting. I wrote about the idea of Days out of time, or days that don’t count, a few days ago. The Mayan culture had this idea. They took a couple of days off to make their Calendar work.
I was going to hibernate, but then got some freelance orders that were a bit of a surprise. Over two days I did a 7K word series on sports, and the two days before that I wrote 3K on another story. So about 10k paid words happened while I was in days out of time. Those days may not have existed, but I’m assuming the payment will exist.
It’s amazing what you can get done when you “just do it” instead of thinking about it. The deadline was a bit awkward. I had to wait for games to be over late at night before I could write, but I just rolled with it and it all got done.
