There used to be farms that had been in the same famly for more than 100 years. Of course it costs a lot more now, you need a combine thats gonna cost 200grand at least. and thats just the start.

so farmers have to take out huge loans each yaer. You have a couple bad years and the farmer cant pay the loan and next thing you know the bank owns the farm.

A lot of family farms have been swallowed up by corporations this way.

I know of 2-3 around here who have survived though. I know one farmer who has the original land grant signed by president Grant in 1870. Still lives in the same house. But that has become very rare.
