There are biblical stories about how the one that does what God wants is the true believer moreso than the one who professes belief but does not do the things he should. At the same time though, if someone is an atheist they have rejected God … so how can that be acceptable to god? Motivation becomes important. If a person does well for self-gratification and to make themselves look good … are they really good?
