Legalism is always ready to rear its head, and even bible reading can be legalism. (I know, im legalistic in my opposition to legalism.) :)

The bible is a supernatural book though, it is surprising how much we can remember, and that's because of the spirit's encouragment.

There's an old book called Sacred Pathways (or something similar to that) by Gary Thomas that addresses this.

We all relate to God in different ways. and all the ways are important in their time.

I relate to God a lot more out on a trail in the woods than i do in church. .. still go to church though :)
