They have hijacked Christianity for sure. I cant explain it.
But there are some real Christians still out there.
An ironic thing that has stuck with me over the years. Back in 1994, I was in seminary in South Carolina. The Tea Party had not gotten started yet and people like Falwell or Robertson were seen as extremists and questionable at best.
We had speakers that would come to campus and give talks on various things. One day a guy came spouting what we would now call conservative evangelical, or tea party ideology. The guy was literally boo-ed by students, and that was the only time I saw that happen in two or three years there. Most students got up and left and for days people talked about how godless that had seemed. Even professors were saying that sort of thing should not have been on a Christian campus. It was soundly rejected. It would be pretty much the people you described today. Things have really changed.
