We really dont know if they used the scriptures or not. Just because they didnt mention it, does not mean that it had not influenced their thinking.

In my writing I have never mentioned the grammar class I had in college (this is the first mention). So would you assume then that I have not studied grammar because I never mentioned it until now. :)
