Wow, Reading this sounds like my life story. But I was a white kid in Appalachia surrounded by other white kids. I hid my report card from my friends and only read at home.

By the time I got to college, I had literally never studied for a test and had no idea how to do so. It had been so easy. Probably the best thing that ever happened was in my first year, I made a 38 on my first test. A 38 out of 100. I barely remained academically eligible to stay in college for my first two years.

I always wanted to study theology at a high level but ended up in journalism. I felt what you talked about feeling.

When I was 40 I did manage to go back to school and get my theology degree, and then returned to journalism. You can do the same with your law degree at some point.
